The Brxiham Deli is committed to supporting local producers wherever possible. Buying locally and supporting dozens of West country-based suppliers and workers is fundamental to the ethics of our deli. Not everything we stock is organic but if we can do it we will, and we also stock a lot of fair trade products. It is important to buy local but if the quality doesn't meet our standards, we won't do it. Fortunately, a lot of local Devon produce is great and, as the quality is there, we will buy it and support it. To give you a flavour of the quality of our products, just a few of our suppliers are showcased on this page. |
Oliver Watson has owned and run an organic dairy on the farm at Riverford in Buckfastleigh, Devon since 1988, producing milk, cream and yoghurt - the flavour certainly beats anything you'll find in the supermarket. Our dairy herd produces around 14,000 litres of milk a week. The dairy herd also plays an important part in helping us grow our organic veg. We use their nutritious manure and rotate the pastures so the cows graze with the veg fields to allow the soil to recover. The cows also eat up any veg we can't use.
Keep it simple, tasty and natural that’s the Chunk philosophy. Use only the best local produce, traditional recipes and handmade methods and you can create pies and pasties that are simply delicious. And when you’ve got fantastic, natural ingredients, why spoil their flavours with additives, preservatives, colourings and other junk? So we don’t. We just take local, free range meats, local veg, cheeses and ales and combine them with our melt-in-the-mouth, buttery pastry. The result? Pies, Pasties, Pork Pies and Sausage Rolls that taste absolutely awesome! Simon and Keith joined forces in 2006 on a mission to create awesome Pies, Pasties, Pork Pies and Sausage Rolls. Both come from Award Winning catering backgrounds. Possibly the best people to talk to about their dedication are their wives. Suzi (Simon’s wife) says "He charmed me with pie and chips on our first date!". Michelle (Keith’s wife) "I think he would like to be sent off in a pie shaped coffin!" Chunk HQ is in Ottery St.Mary near Exeter, Devon. Currently the chunk team consists of about 20 - hand creating Pies & Pasties.

In the winery, we employ both New World and traditional techniques to best develop our unique regional characteristics. Our tally of International Awards confirms our position as one of England's foremost quality wine producers. Quality, taste and excellence are the enduring hallmarks of our award winning range of English cheeses.
